Safety Driving

I wanted to offer some tips about Safety Driving in the news in my area there have been reports of accident caused by distracted driving. We get in our vehicle every day to either go to work or visit friends and family. After a long period of time we begin to get comfortable behind the wheel to the point where we become complacent and relaxed. This is where we start to develop bad driving habits through no fault of our own. A lapse in judgment while driving can have disastrous results. The Safety driving tips I offer are just a reminder and may be helpful. The goal of this post is to raise awareness to help avoid accidents while driving.

When you decide to get in your vehicle take a moment to check your vehicle to see if it safe to drive. What I mean is check the tires not only to make sure they are inflated properly but to make sure there is no object stuck in the tire tread. Any tires found in poor condition due to wear and tear should be changed immediately. You can use a penny to check the tread on a tire. Take the penny and place it inside the tread hold the penny upside down with Lincoln’s head facing you. If you are able to see all of Lincoln’s head it’s time to change your tire. This will avoid a possible tire blowout while driving on the road. After you have checked the tires test the lights the headlights, blinker and break lights should be working. Any lights found not working should be replaced immediately.

Once you get inside your vehicle take a moment to adjust your driver seat and mirrors. You need to see where you are going to get to your location safely. Your mirrors should be adjusted to avoid blind spots. When you adjust your driver side mirror lean your head against the driver side door glass (your head should be touching the glass). Then adjust the mirror until you just see beyond your vehicle. When you are adjusting the passenger side mirror lean towards the center console and do the same. You should just see pass the point where you see your car in the mirror. The rear view mirror is easy just center the mirror so you can see out the back of your vehicle.  When you have completed all this then fasten your seat belt.

When you are driving you vehicle please obey all the traffic signs avoid distractions such as eating, any texting or cell phone use. Your attention should be on the road at all times when you leave for a trip or to go to a certain destination give yourself enough time to get there leave a few minutes early. This way you are no rushing as rushing to a destination may cause you to speed. Spacing between vehicle is very important give yourself enough space between vehicles so you have enough time to react to any sudden changes in driving. If someone is driving too close to you pull over and let them pass.  It is better to be safe than sorry.

I hope this post was helpful as always please leave a comment

Be safe
